Outdoor Winter Decorating

Just because Christmas comes and goes doesn’t mean that winter decorating must cease. The winter has its own ambiance, and decorating your home for this cooler time of year can be just as festive and creative as any other season.

You can always start by adorning permanent fixtures that are already part of your home. Think about adding cool-colored ribbons on sconces or placing pine cones, berries and evergreens on your mailbox.

Also, decorative baskets at the door are welcoming and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.  You can create a basket that would be placed on the ground or even hang up a winteresque basket. Lots of homeowners take down hanging baskets in the wintertime, but if you had the right mixture of greenery and vegetation, baskets can be displayed all year long. Try including light and dark evergreens, strewn with a few berries for color.

Jovial window boxes are opportune for wintry decorating. You can fill them with traditional evergreens, and if you really would like to be avant-garde, trying skipping the plants and substituting vegetation with cool-colored glasses. Mediums to darker shades of blue match the feel of the cool temps. Feel free to sporadically place candle holders, jars, and bottles throughout the scene.
